British Association of Critical Care Nurses' Conference Director Karin Gerber and #rehablegend Kate Tantam is joining forces this summer to encourage all involved with Critical Care whether you are an ex-patient, a family member or loved one of someone that had to spend some time in Critical Care or you are part of the multidisciplinary team that works within Critical Care on a daily basis to join us in a parkrun takeover day. We'll be staging a "take over" at the Woodley parkrun in Reading on the 6th of June with the aim to highlight how parkrun can help both our physical and mental health recovery and wellbeing whether you were a patient /family member and or a part of the Critical Care Team.
parkrun has been and or can be instrumental during the recovery from critical illness and or maintaining physical and mental health & wellbeing when working often very stressful and emotionally taxing environment every day for both patients and members of the team on a global level. parkrun is such a simple and sustainable concept: "turn up every Saturday and walk, jog or run 5k. You can also volunteer in numerous different roles too! It doesn’t matter how fast you go. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. What matters is taking part. There are now parkrun events each Saturday and Sunday in 20 countries all around the world. All events are organised by a group of wonderful, dedicated, local volunteers – our hi-vis heroes! parkrun is all about inclusiveness and wellbeing. We want as many people as possible to feel part of a real local community brought together by our events, as well as our global parkrun family. The format of parkrun is simple: register once, print your barcode, then turn up and take part wherever you want, whenever you want" www.parkrun.com
We are calling all #rehablegends i.e: ex-Critical Care patients with associated friends & family alongside the whole of the Critical Care Fraternity to help us stage a parkrun takeover on the 6th of June 2020. Why not take part in your local parkrun on the day or perhaps with your own friends and or colleagues organise another simultaneous takeover? The important bit is to share this via social media to encourage others to take up parkrun to reap the same benefits many of us have already experienced in multiple ways.
We'll also be joined in our campaign by the team from the Laura Hyde Foundation https://laurahydefoundation.org/
Share your pictures/story with us using @BACCNUK #rehablegend #baccnparkruntakeover. Have you perhaps already got a #rehablegend badge? why not wear it / share it with pride.
Will you be taking up our challenge?
